I find pausing the game while the player is running somewhere to show a tutorial a bit jarring and annoying - it feels like a pop up. Maybe a suggestion is to have a notification style pop up that you would click to see the tutorial.

The entire tutorial system is going to be worked into the narrative of the game. The pop ups are a temporary fix for the Alpha.
