The interact ability is incredibly awkward.
It is not where your cursor is nor where your character is looking, but a set distance away from your character.
This makes harvesting and planting small plants, and interacting with the cash registers in stores somewhat of a gamble because the area seems to be only a few pixels wide so a lot of time is spent running back and fourth over plots to find the exact pixel the "plant" ability shows up. In the stores, I find myself having to run away from the cash register a bit to avoid getting the talk interaction with the NPC who is standing right there.

Have you tried right clicking and going into aim mode?

Ok, so right clicking does make planting and harvesting easier. I still have trouble using my cutting board if a box is nearby. I have to go on the other side of the wall of my house to target my cutting board to use it.
