It's difficult to draw straight fence lines in the drone build mode. Maybe a camera looking directly down (orthographic and not perspective) would make it easier.

That, or angle snapping! It looks like there's already a UI element for it in the bottom right, it's just not in yet, I think?

The new drone controls should make this easier as you can look straight down while flying in the direction you'd like the fence to go.
