Pressing tab after putting an item into backpack doesn't work

After putting the last tool into my backpack I press Tab to escape the menu but it just cycles through the backpack tools. Need to click somewhere on the interface for Tab to work properly.

Some widgets still need to be updated to have Tab close them properly notably: Tool wheel and storage containers(plastic box, cardboard box)
